#1 - Be GLAD® (Guided Language Acquisition Design)

#2 - Academia de Artes de Lenguaje en Español

Los invitamos a todos a participar en el instituto de lenguaje en Español. Vengan todos a aprender cómo funciona el español y cómo enseñarlo de manera eficaz y divertida. Estudiaremos profundamente la enseñanza basada en los estándares con énfasis en aquellos que son específicos al idioma español. Demostraremos cómo planear la instrucción con los nuevos Estándares de Desarrollo del Idioma Español y compartiremos estrategias que facilitan la enseñanza del español como segunda lengua. Repasaremos estrategias para la instrucción de un continuo vertical de destrezas fundamentales y de gramática en los grados K-6. Enseñaremos estrategias translingü.sticas para establecer conexiones explícitas entre el español y el inglés. Se afirmará la pedagogía crítica, el multiculturalismo y la concientización social como métodos esenciales.

#3 - Dual Language Immersion (DLI) for New Programs

Presenter: Anya Bobadilla, CABE

This institute will present a critical overview of the research and planning process for new dual language immersion (DLI) programs. Based on the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education, 3rd edition, CABE’s Suggested DLI Program Planning Timeline and other resources will be shared. Topics include DLI research, program models, community engagement, recruiting students and high-quality bilingual/biliterate teachers, enrollment policies, developing a language allocation plan, and other components of a strong, successful, and sustainable DLI program.

#2 - Planning for Effective Integrated and Designated ELD

Presenter: CABE Professional Learning Services

Gain a deeper understanding of how to plan for Integrated and Designated English Language Development (ELD). The English Language Arts (ELA)/English Language Development (ELD) Framework will be reviewed for guidance on creating effective ELD instruction. Important components of Integrated and Designated ELD will be examined, including content, language, and sociocultural objectives, differentiated sentence frames, use of graphic organizers, and structured academic language development. Learn the steps for planning high-quality Integrated and Designated ELD lessons.
